Inspired by peacock feathers I collected in my youth from a nearby farm, this original painting brings together memory, movement, and symbolism. The central figure performs the Peacock Dance of the Dai people of southwestern China, a traditional dance inspired by the graceful movements of the peacock. Across many symbolic traditions, the peacock represents happiness, peace, honesty, and good fortune. These qualities move subtly through the painting, expressed through color, gesture, and form.
